U.S. Congressman Scott Rigell (R-VA) Endorsed Gary Johnson For President

No one wants to be first. As a politician, sticking your neck out and endorsing outside of your party is a risk that few are ever willing to take. It only happens in the most extraordinary of circumstances – like when your party’s nominee is Donald Trump. There are scores of elected Republicans who have said they’ll never vote for Trump but they’ve been unwilling to be the first to endorse Gary Johnson instead. That seal has now been broken. U.S. Congressman Scott Rigell endorsed Gary Johnson for President.

In an interview with the New York Times the Virginia Republican, who came out against Trump several months ago, announced that he would be voting for Gary Johnson this November. Until now Rigell has been a vocal opponent of Donald Trump. One of his deepest concerns is that Trump is not “equipped in temperament, judgement, or character to lead our troops”. The Congressman was warning of this back in March but no one in the party listened to him. The RNC is only figuring it out now that Trump isn’t going to change and his campaign is only going to sink faster.
